OUR WORK TOGETHER
Approach
I approach therapy with the belief that our struggles make sense when understood in context. Anxiety, self-criticism, and emotional distress are not signs that something is wrong with you; they are often intelligent responses to experiences, relationships, and environments that shaped how you learned to cope.
In our work together, I focus on helping you understand your emotional world rather than rushing to fix or eliminate symptoms. When emotions are approached as meaningful signals, not problems to suppress, they often become less overwhelming and easier to work with. Because emotions are felt in the body, we also pay attention to physical responses like tension, discomfort, or activation, which often drive patterns people are trying to change. For many people, this understanding alone begins to bring a sense of relief.
My work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based approach that helps deepen emotional awareness and strengthen our relationships with ourselves and others. I also draw from other evidence-based and relational perspectives as needed, including cognitive and parts-based approaches, mindfulness, and evolutionary psychology. These lenses help us understand why certain patterns developed and why they’ve been hard to change.
In individual therapy, we often explore themes like anxiety, people-pleasing, self-esteem, stress, and identity, with an emphasis on self-understanding and emotional clarity. In couples therapy, I help partners slow down reactive cycles, understand the patterns that keep them stuck, and reconnect in more secure and responsive ways. Across this work, the goal is not to fix you, but to help things make enough sense that you feel more clarity and ease within yourself and your relationships, so change can happen more naturally, rather than through force or constant effort.
